Nissan Gravite Launching Soon: What To Expect?

Nissan is preparing to introduce an all-new 7-seater MPV for the Indian market, called the Gravite, which is scheduled to launch in late February 2026. Positioned as a core product in Nissan’s new India strategy, the Gravite is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the brand’s presence in one of its most important global markets.

Designed for Indian families, according to the OEM, the Gravite is expected to focus on space, flexibility, and everyday usability, which will be key factors in the highly competitive MPV segment.

Positioning And Purpose

The Gravite has been developed as part of Nissan’s refreshed product roadmap for India. According to Nissan, the MPV is aimed at value-conscious family buyers who prioritise versatility and comfort. The focus is expected to be on modular seating, practical storage solutions, and a spacious cabin that accommodates daily commuting as well as long-distance family travel. While interior details are yet to be revealed, the Gravite is likely to be positioned as a practical yet aspirational offering in the mass-market MPV space.

The Meaning Behind The Name ‘Gravite’

Nissan says the name “Gravite” draws inspiration from the concept of gravity, which symbolises balance, stability and attraction. These values are meant to reflect the MPV’s focus on family comfort, confidence and connectivity. The design language is expected to align with Nissan’s global styling approach, featuring a C-shaped grille, bonnet branding and a strong, upright stance. At the rear, the C-shaped lighting signature is expected to continue, reinforcing brand identity and road presence.

Manufacturing And Local Focus

The Nissan Gravite will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s Chennai facility. Local production underscores Nissan’s intent to build vehicles tailored for Indian customers while leveraging India as a manufacturing and export hub. The Chennai plant will play a central role in Nissan’s renewed focus on the Indian market.

Nissan’s Broader Market Strategy

Senior leadership from Nissan’s AMIEO region has reiterated India’s importance as both a growth market and an export base. As part of this strategy, Nissan plans to expand its model range, increase localisation and strengthen exports. The Nissan Magnite, for instance, is already exported to more than 65 markets, and future models are expected to follow a similar approach.

Sales And After-Sales Expansion

To support its upcoming product launches, Nissan is also working on expanding its dealership and service network. The focus will be on increasing reach in Tier I and Tier II cities, helping the brand tap into a wider customer base. This expansion is expected to support Gravite’s positioning as a family-focused MPV designed for a broad audience across India.

Opinion

The Nissan Gravite appears to be a key step in Nissan’s efforts to regain momentum in India. With a focus on space, flexibility and localisation, the Gravite could appeal to family buyers looking for a practical MPV from a European brand. Much will depend on pricing, features and how well Nissan executes its sales and service expansion, but the Gravite clearly signals renewed intent from the brand.
