Tata Sierra scores 5-stars in Bharat NCAP safety rating.

The Tata Sierra has earned a 5-star safety rating for both child and adult protection in the Bharat NCAP safety crash tests. The Sierra joins other Tata cars in the 5-star rating club, alongside models such as the Altroz, Safari, Punch, and Nexon. In an era where safety matters more to the buyer than features and efficiency, Tata leads the pack, and the Sierra is the newest addition.

Adult occupant safety - 31.14/32

The Sierra gets one of the best adult occupant safety ratings of any Indian car, with a score of 31.14 out of 32. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 15.14/16, providing good protection to the head and pelvis regions of both the passenger and the driver and adequate protection to the chest of the driver. In the side movable deformable barrier test, it scored a perfect 16/16 with good protection to the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis regions of the occupants. It also gets an ‘ok’ clearance for the side pole impact test.

Child occupant safety - 44.73/49

In the child occupant safety test, the Sierra scores a respectable 44.73 out of 49. The tests were conducted with two dummies, an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old child, mounted on child seats. The 18-month-old dummy scored 7.73 in the Frontal Impact Test, while the 3-year-old dummy scored a full 8/8; both dummies scored full points in the side impact tests. The Sierra scored 12/12 in the CRS (Child Restraint System) and 9/13 in the Vehicle assessment score.

Safety features

The Sierra comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), side head protection system (curtain airbags), Seat Belt Reminders (SBR) and ISOFIX anchor points for child seats as standard across all the variants. Higher versions get Level 2 ADAS tech with lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Vs rivals.

The Tata Sierra is one of the highest scorers in safety ratings in its segment. Other 5-star rated cars are the Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Kylaq, VW Taigun, Kia Syros and the Maruti Victoris. Newer variants of the Creta and the Seltos have not been tested yet, with their older variants getting a 3-star rating in the Global NCAP.

With prices starting at ₹11.49 lakh, the Tata Sierra offers a 5-star rated car for someone who wants peace of mind regarding safety without compromising on practicality and equipment.
