Kia Syros prices cut, new variants now start at Rs 8.40 lakh

Kia has updated the Syros line-up for 2026, and the headline is simple. It is now more accessible. Prices start at Rs 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom), down Rs 27,000 from before.

This is the second rejig this year, and the focus this time is clearly on value and variant spread. The biggest change is the introduction of new trims. The Syros is now offered in seven variants, with fresh entries like HTE, HTE(O), HTK+(O) and HTX(O), while some earlier trims have been dropped. The idea is straightforward. Spread features more evenly and plug the gaps in the line-up.

There is also a more meaningful mechanical update regarding availability. The diesel automatic is now offered on more affordable trims, such as HTK+ and HTK+(O). This reduces the entry price for a diesel-AT by over Rs 3 lakh, which is a significant shift in positioning. Design changes are subtle but noticeable. The front and rear bumpers get new inserts, skid plates now come in gloss black, and higher variants add LED fog lamps and a revised rear stop lamp. There are also new 17-inch alloy wheels on top trims, finished with a slightly more distinctive look, along with coloured brake callipers. Kia has also added three new colours, including a matte finish, which remains relatively rare in this segment.

Inside, there are no new headline features, but the equipment list has been redistributed. More comfort and convenience features are now available on lower- and mid-range variants, where most buyers tend to spend.

Under the hood, nothing changes. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol continues to produce around 118bhp and 172Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel makes about 114bhp and 250Nm. Gearbox options remain the same, with manual and automatic choices across both engines.

This update does not try to reinvent the Syros. Instead, it makes the existing package more accessible and easier to configure in a segment where value often decides the outcome, which matters more than adding new features.
