JLR has revealed the specifications of its first all-electric Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport Electric, and has also opened bookings for the SUV in India. It will be manufactured at JLR’s Solihull plant in the UK and will reach Indian shores via the CBU route. Here’s everything you need to know about the Range Rover Sport Electric.
At first glance, you might not immediately recognise the Range Rover Electric as an EV. It retains the familiar design of the regular Range Rover, but gets an aero-optimised front grille and wheels. One of the easiest ways to tell it apart is the EV badging on the alloy wheels.
There’s not much that sets the Range Rover Electric apart on the inside either. It carries over the same driver’s display and infotainment screen as the regular Range Rover, while the overall cabin layout remains largely unchanged.
The Range Rover Electric is powered by a 118.5kWh battery pack based on an 800-volt architecture, offering a claimed WLTP range of up to 600km. It gets two 260kW electric motors, one on each axle, delivering a combined 550hp and 850Nm of torque. This setup enables the SUV to sprint from 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds. The Range Rover Electric supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW, with Range Rover claiming a 10-80 per cent charge in just 22 minutes when connected to a 350kW DC fast charger.
Bookings for the Range Rover Electric are open in India and we expect that prices for the Range Rover Electric will start at ₹3.30 Crore (ex-showroom)
