Jeep’s Trail-Ready EV Arrives: Introducing the 2026 Recon

Overview

Electric vehicles are making their entry in almost every segment of cars today. What started with small city hatchbacks and compact sedans has now spread across the entire automotive landscape. 2026 Recon shows just how far the shift has come. Jeep has revealed its latest off-road-ready SUV. Jeep Recon was announced in 2022, and now Jeep has finally revealed details about the Recon, and it will be launched in its Moab trim first. This is not Jeep’s first EV, but this has the off-road DNA combined with electric power. Here is everything you need to know about the 2026 Jeep Recon.

Design

The Jeep Recon features a boxy, upright design inspired by Jeep’s traditional design language. It features Jeep’s signature 7-slot grill up front paired with modern LED lighting. The flat bonnet and upright stance further emphasise the Recon’s traditional Jeep geometry. Removable doors and a removable roof add to the open-air layout, following Jeep’s heritage of convertible-style 4x4s. The Recon also incorporates chunky wheel arches, a high ground clearance, and large 18-inch all-terrain tyres, which collectively highlight its trail-oriented purpose. The rear features a practical tailgate design and minimalist lighting, completing a form that blends classic Jeep geometry. Off-road specifications include 34-degree approach angle, 34.5-degree departure angle, and 23.5-degree breakover angle.

Motor, Battery and Performance

Jeep Recon has a 100.5 kWh battery paired with dual motors producing 659bhp and 840Nm of torque. Jeep has claimed that Recon can do 0-100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds. The rear motor has 15:1 final drive ratio with an electronic locking differential, while the front motor has 11:1 final drive ratio with an open differential. Jeep has claimed that Recon Moab can go up to 370km on a full charge. Jeep has also claimed that upcoming trims will offer up to 450km of driving range on a single charge.

Interior and Features

The interior of the Jeep Recon is built around functionality and technology, combining ruggedness with a modern, modular layout. We don’t have the full details for the Recon's interior tech suite yet, but from the pictures, the Recon's interior is covered extensively by screens. It features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 14.5-inch central touchscreen running the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A two-tier center console has a wireless charger on top and a pass-through compartment below for tablets or bags. Jeep has integrated five Selec-Terrain driving modes: Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock, accessible from a dedicated control panel, to tailor traction, throttle response, and regenerative braking. There’s also a low-speed Selec-Speed Control to help maintain steady speed on steep or technical terrain. Additionally, the Jeep Recon is fitted with low-speed Selec-Speed Control for challenging inclines and declines. When engaged, Selec-Speed Control maintains the set speed, freeing the driver to concentrate on steering.

Trims and Pricing

The 2026 Jeep Recon will begin production early next year, with initial launches in the U.S. and Canada, followed by global expansion in Q4 of 2026. The Moab trim will be offered exclusively in the US and Canada. Jeep has currently not given any information about its launch in India.

Jeep has revealed pricing for its Moab trim, which is $66,995 (₹59,28,025)
