Hyundai Unveils Creta Electric with 473km range!

Hyundai Motor India Limited has pulled the covers off its much-anticipated Hyundai Creta Electric, marking its entry into the localised electric SUV market. Combining a familiar brand name with an electrified powertrain, Creta Electric aims to cater to a broad audience of Indian consumers ready for the EV shift.

Design Highlights:

The Creta Electric borrows design cues from Hyundai’s global Pixel design language, presenting:

  • Front Grille with Charging Port: The charging port is cleverly integrated into a pixelated graphic grille, and similar pixelated elements adorn the bumpers and rear LED tail lamps.

  • Active Air Flaps (AAF): These flaps aren’t just for show; they actively manage airflow to cool components and improve aerodynamics.

  • Aero Alloy Wheels: R17 Aero Alloy Wheels paired with Low Rolling Resistance tyres contribute to better range and smoother rides.

Under the Hood (or Battery Pack)

Hyundai offers two battery options for the Creta Electric:

  • A 51.4 kWh Long-Range pack has a range of 473 km per charge.

  • A 42 kWh Standard Pack with a range of 390 km.

The SUV's acceleration figures are impressive. In its long-range configuration, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds.

Charging

Charging flexibility is a key focus:

  • DC Fast Charging: 10% to 80% charge in 58 minutes.

  • Home Charging: An 11kW AC wall box charger fully charges the vehicle in four hours.

Tech Talk

Hyundai has packed the Creta Electric with tech-heavy features, including:

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Use the car as a portable power source.

  • iI-PedalTechnology: Simplify driving with single-pedal acceleration and braking.

  • Digital Key: Lock, unlock, and start the car using your smartphone or smartwatch.

  • Shift-by-Wire: Futuristic gear control for effortless driving.

Variants and Colours

The Creta Electric will be available in four trims: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. With eight monotone and two dual-tone colour options, including three matte finishes, Hyundai ensures a variant for every taste. The ocean blue metallic with a black roof stands out, as you see above.

Charging Network Expansion

Hyundai is addressing infrastructure concerns head-on. The company plans to establish 600 public fast-charging stations in India over the next seven years. For immediate convenience, Hyundai’s myHyundai app offers access to over 10,000 charging points nationwide.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Creta Electric combines familiar styling, impressive performance, and practical features to make EVs mainstream in India. As Hyundai aims to lead the charge with localised production and robust infrastructure plans, the Creta Electric may very well become the go-to choice for EV enthusiasts in the country.
