Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: This 1527 Bhp Monster is Eyeing Nurburgring EV Record!

Xiaomi wants to take on the tracks on fire with a flagship model of their first car, SU7. This model, currently a pre-production prototype, will bring a set of changes to the standard EV. Why? To set a record on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife. Xiaomi claimed that the prototype will run on the track in October 2024. Furthermore, its production model will be seen on a legendary track scheduled for sometime in 2025.

Powertrain of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype

Xiaomi has equipped the SU7 Ultra Prototype with three in-house electric motors: the new V8s and the previously used V6s. Two motors in the car are of the V8s type, with an individual output of 570 bhp and 635 Nm torque, while the single V6s churns out 387 bhp, bringing the total to 1527 bhp. This figure is actually ahead of electric giants like the Taycan Turbo GT, Nio EP9, and Tesla Model S.

In terms of real-world performance figures, this powertrain can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 1.97 seconds, while a 0-300 km/h sprint is possible in 15.07 seconds. The top speed of the car is claimed to be 350 kmph.

Design of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype

The Ultra Prototype brings a set of extensive aero rework into the standard model that starts on the front with the new bumper featuring a prominent front splitter and fresh air vents. The front fenders have also been redesigned. On the bonnet, you will find twin exhaust vents that help discard the trapped air. Adding to the look is an aggressive side skirt, a massive rear wing and an ignored rear diffuser. While these additions give it a mean look, they also add 2145 kg of downforce to the EV. To save weight, Xiaomi has used carbon fibre to make body panels. How much lighter does that make it? A whole 300 kgs, bringing its total weight to 1900 kg.

Brakes and Tyres of  Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype

The braking duties of the EV are handled by callipers made by AP Racing, which is a UK-based firm that specializes in making such brakes. These brakes can work even at temperatures exceeding 800 degrees Celsius. These brakes can help bring the car from 100 kmph to a dead stop in 25 meters. The wheels of the SU7 Ultra Prototype are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres.
