Tsunoda to Start Belgian GP from Back Due to Engine Change

Tsunoda had reached the limit of allowed engine parts (excluding exhausts). Replacing the entire engine unit pushes him beyond the allotted allocation, triggering an automatic back-of-the-grid start.

Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen is also expected to incur a grid penalty. Verstappen lost a new engine in Canada due to an electrical issue. Taking a replacement internal combustion engine (ICE) this weekend will drop him 10 places on the grid.

There's contrasting news for Red Bull's third driver, Daniel Ricciardo. Like Tsunoda, Ricciardo is nearing a grid penalty for exceeding engine component limits. However, unlike Tsunoda, Ricciardo doesn't seem slated for an engine change at Spa. Red Bull is likely monitoring the situation and might wait for future races.

This weekend's race carries significant weight, not just for Tsunoda, but for Red Bull's driver lineup. The team faces the decision of whether to retain Sergio Perez at the main team. Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo, and reserve driver Liam Lawson are all potential replacements.

Tsunoda acknowledges the pressure: "It's critical for all Red Bull drivers except Max," he said. "I'm used to it and will focus on my race. My performance speaks for itself - consistent Q3 appearances and points finishes. I believe I've proven myself."

The Belgian Grand Prix promises a thrilling spectacle with implications beyond the race itself. Can Tsunoda claw his way up from the back? Will Verstappen's penalty hinder his performance?
