Ducati has announced a key change for MotoGP superstar Marc Marquez's upcoming stint with the factory team in 2025. According to Motorsport.com, Marco Rigamonti, currently Enea Bastianini's crew chief, will take the reins as Marquez's new technical leader.
Rigamonti, a seasoned technician from Lombardy, Italy, boasts experience working with various teams. Before guiding Bastianini for the past two seasons, he served as crew chief for Andrea Iannone at Suzuki (2017-2018) and Johann Zarco at Pramac Racing (Ducati).
This news comes after Ducati's confirmation of Marquez joining Francesco Bagnaia in the factory line-up for 2025. The Spaniard's long-time crew chief, Frankie Carchedi, will remain with Gresini Racing as he's directly contracted with the Faenza-based outfit. Carchedi previously played a key role in Joan Mir's 2020 Suzuki championship win.
Marquez, who arrived at Gresini after his Honda departure, expressed his trust in Ducati's decision: "The people in charge at Ducati will be the first to place the people they consider to be the most suitable for me, in order to ensure that my performance is the best possible," he said at Assen.
This move puts to rest speculations about a reunion with Santi Hernandez, Marquez's former crew chief who masterminded seven of his eight world championship titles. Hernandez is expected to continue working alongside Joan Mir in the official Repsol Honda team.
With Rigamonti at the helm, a successful partnership with the legendary Marquez is a prospect that has Ducati and MotoGP fans buzzing with anticipation for the 2025 season.
