From Uncertainty to Factory Status: Di Giannantonio Extends with Ducati

Fabio Di Giannantonio has secured a dream ride with Ducati, signing a two-year contract directly with the Italian manufacturer to continue racing for VR46 in MotoGP. This news comes after a remarkable turnaround for the young rider, whose future in the premier class seemed precarious just a year ago.

The deal, confirmed in August 2024, sees Di Giannantonio rewarded for his impressive performances in 2024 aboard a year-old Ducati machine. His dedication and talent haven't gone unnoticed, earning him a coveted spot as one of only three riders on the 2025 grid with access to the factory-spec GP25 motorcycle.

This turn of events is a significant victory for Di Giannantonio. He faced an uncertain future at the end of 2023 when six-time champion Marc Marquez claimed his previous seat at Gresini Racing. However, VR46 Racing Team offered him a lifeline, and Di Giannantonio has made the most of it. His consistent results have propelled him to a strong eighth place in the current championship standings, even surpassing his teammate, the three-time grand prix winner Marco Bezzecchi.

"Signing this contract is a massive deal for me," Di Giannantonio expressed his excitement. "Being part of the Ducati family for the next two years with VR46 Racing Team is a significant milestone and a springboard for my growth. With Ducati's support and a factory bike, the possibilities for growth and success are vast. I'm incredibly grateful for Ducati's trust, especially Claudio Domenicali, Gigi Dall'Igna, and Mauro Rizzi. Additionally, a huge thanks to VR46 Racing Team, particularly Valentino Rossi, Alessio Salucci, Pablo Nieto, and all the team members. My staff also deserves immense credit; this journey wouldn't be possible without them."

This development coincides with VR46 taking over as Ducati's sole factory-supported team for the 2025 season, replacing Pramac Racing. While VR46 initially aimed for two of the latest GP25 bikes, Ducati's downsizing will provide them with only one in 2025. However, speculations suggest that Franco Morbidelli, the current Pramac rider, will join VR46 to replace Bezzecchi (who is headed to Aprilia). Morbidelli is expected to remain on his current GP24 bike next year.

Gigi Dall'Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, echoed the optimism: "We're thrilled to have Fabio Di Giannantonio with us for the next two years. His unwavering belief in our project, coupled with his dedication and talent, has fueled his steady growth in MotoGP. We're confident that with VR46 and a factory Desmosedici GP, he can unleash his full potential. Welcome to the Ducati family officially, Fabio!"

With a factory Ducati ride secured and a powerful GP25 at his disposal, Di Giannantonio is poised to make a significant mark in the upcoming MotoGP seasons. His journey from uncertainty to factory status is an inspiration, and fans will be eager to witness his continued growth within the Ducati family.
