Hyderabad hosting a first-ever formula-E Prix in India will indeed be a big feat for the Indian motorsports. According to the report, the Telangana government and Formula-E officials have already signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to host the race. The Hyderabad E-Prix will undoubtedly amplify the much-needed electric revolution in India.

The Hyderabad Formula-E Prix will feature a 2.3 km long city circuit. It is a T-shaped circuit with city road stretches near the secretariat and overlooking Hussainsagar lake. If Hyderabad successfully pulls out this event well, then it could mark its name as one of the prestigious cities to host city-circuit racing. The development of the track is managed and governed by Driven International, the award-winning design agency that modified the Yas Marina Circuit for the 2021 Formula-1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The firm also undertook the project to design and construct an FIA Grade 3 circuit, known as Nanoli Speedway, near Pune, Maharashtra.

The Gen3 cars will debut their inning with pre-season testing in Valencia, Spain. The 2022-23 Formula-E championship will kick-start its Round-1 innings from Mexico City, Mexico, and finish the final Round-18 in London, UK. “We will continue to push the international boundaries of all-electric street racing with E-Prix in Hyderabad and Sao Paulo, while maintaining the hugely-popular races in Diriyah, Mexico City, Berlin, Monaco, Rome and London with Jakarta and Seoul now established on the calendar.” Says Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer, Formula-E.

After six seasons of racing on the streets of the world's most progressive cities, Formula-E gained World Championship Status in 2019, and since then, the viewership and seriousness of the sport have grown manifold. The Hyderabad Formula-E Prix would be the second biggest championship in India after the 2013 Indian Grand Prix at BIC, Greater Noida. The Hyderabad-E Prix  will provide a much-needed boost to  Indian motorsports.
