What To Expect? | Third-Gen Honda Amaze teased

Honda has officially teased the third-generation Amaze, a much-anticipated compact sedan. This new-gen Amaze promises a major upgrade in both design and technology, drawing design cues from Honda's global lineup, including the Civic. With bookings likely to begin next month, the Amaze is expected to launch by early 2025, taking on refreshed competitors in the market. Here’s what we anticipate from the upcoming model:

Exterior

The teaser provides a sneak peek at the front profile, showcasing a design evolution that mirrors the aesthetic of the Honda Civic sold in international markets. Expect a sharper front end, with headlamps that are slimmer and more angular than before. On higher variants, Honda will likely include LED projector headlights, while LED daytime running lights (DRLs) will be positioned above, flowing into a hexagonal honeycomb grille. This redesigned grille, now larger with a bold chrome bar extending across its top, features a prominently placed Honda logo at the centre, giving the Amaze a sophisticated, high-end look. Large corner air dam recesses on the bumper, possibly with darkened inserts, further add to the sedan’s aggressive styling.

The rear design is also expected to be significantly refreshed, based on spy shots that hint at slab-sided styling with a modern smoky finish for the tail lamps. This detail could give the new Amaze a more refined and dynamic rear profile than its predecessor.

Interior

While Honda hasn’t shared interior images, we can anticipate many updates inside the cabin. The dashboard layout is expected to be revamped, possibly featuring a larger touchscreen infotainment system that is around 9-inches in size, with wireless connectivity options for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Comfort-focused features will also likely include automatic climate control, a semi-digital driver’s display, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, keyless entry, and a wireless phone charger. Honda may even add a sunroof in higher trims, a feature becoming more common in this segment.

Safety

Safety is a priority for Honda, and the new Amaze’s top trims should come well-equipped with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and rear parking sensors with a camera. ISOFIX child seat mounts are expected as standard, catering to family buyers who prioritize safety.

Powertrain Options: Petrol and Possible CNG Variant

The new Amaze is set to carry forward its reliable 1.2-litre petrol engine, producing around 89 BHP and 110 Nm of torque, with transmission options of a 5-speed manual or a CVT. While Honda hasn’t confirmed details about a CNG variant, there are speculations of a future CNG option, which could offer buyers a more economical choice amid rising fuel prices.

Pricing Expectations

With the Amaze’s generational update, Honda is expected to increase prices slightly, placing it above its current range of Rs 7.20 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). This new price point will position it competitively against the recently redesigned Maruti Suzuki Dzire (set for launch on November 11), the Hyundai Aura, and compact SUVs like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.

Booking Timeline and Availability

Bookings for the third-gen Amaze are likely to open in the coming month, and a full reveal is anticipated before the end of the year. Honda is also offering discounts of up to Rs 1 lakh on the outgoing Amaze, a tempting option for buyers eager to own a Honda sedan at a lower price.
