Volkswagen Launches Special Onam Edition of Taigun and Virtus

Volkswagen has launched a special Onam edition of the Taigun and Virtus to celebrate the festival along with their 6 new outlets in Kerala. The Taigun Onam edition will cost in the range of Rs 14.08 lakh-15.63 lakh while the Virtus will retail between Rs 13.57 lakh and 14.87 lakh. These bring some changes to the exterior along with feature additions and will be available for a limited time. There will only be 100 units of each model. Changes in Onam Edition

The Onam edition will be reserved for Kerala only. It gets a completely black finish on both the inside and out. Contrasting it, are chrome elements on the car. The front has a grille with a black finish and a TSI badge on the front fender adding to the sporty look. Some features that are added in the Onam addition are a twin tone horn, parking sensors, puddle lamps. 

Taigun Onam Edition

The Taigun Onam Edition finds its base in the Taigun GT line of the SUV. This means that apart from the additional features, it gets all the standard ones available on the GT line. These include an 8-inch digital instrument panel, a 10-inch infotainment display, an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats and automatic climate control. For safety, it gets 6 airbags that helped it get a 5-star NCAP rating. 

Virtus Onam Edition

The Virtus Onam is essentially an addition to the Highline variant. It gets all the standard features of the Virtus Highline, like Cruise control, Wireless mobile charging, an 8-inch driver instrument display, a 10-inch infotainment panel, an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and ambient lighting.

Powertrain of Onam Edition 

The Onam Edition models get only one powertrain: the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill. This engine produces 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

Competition of Taigun and Virtus

The Taigun competes in the rising mid-size SUV segment with multiple competitors, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq.

On the other hand, the Virtus locks horns with cars like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Skoda Slavia.
