Tata has established itself as one of the pioneers of EVs in India with models like the Tata Nexon EV, Punch EV and Tiago EV. They want to take this forward with the Harrier EV, which will serve as the flagship electric SUV. In their last investor day presentation, they announced that they plan to launch two EVs by the end of this financial year, which lasts till March 31, 2025.
Harrier EV Design
The Harrier EV Concept was first shown at the Auto Expo 2023. Its key highlights include a typical EV-like closed grill, new bumpers on the front and rear, and a coupe-inspired roof. It also has connected LED lamps on the front and the rear. The alloy wheels also had a fresh design. Not much could be determined about the interior with this model. This concept is expected to be close to the production version of the SUV.
Harrier EV Underpinnings
The Harrier EV will be based on the activ.ev architecture that underpinned the Punch EV and the upcoming Curvv EV. It shares its platform with the standard Harrier in the form of the Omega platform shared with Land Rover. As is the case for EVs, the Harrier EV will feature a flat floor on the interior. According to Tata, the Harrier EV will get vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capacities
Harrier EV Details
If rumors are to go by, the Harrier EV will be powered by an electric motor on all axles, essentially making it a all-wheel-drive SUV. Surprisingly, it will be the only AWD car from Tata when it launches. These motors will derive their power from a 60kWh battery pack that is capable of giving 500km of range on a full charge.
