The Mahindra Thar Roxx is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated launches of this year. As its launch date of Independence Day comes closer, Mahindra is revealing its details bit by bit through multiple teasers. In the latest teaser, we got to know more about the upcoming 5-door off-road SUV. Here's what we found.
What Teaser of Thar Roxx Revealed
The major thing revealed in the teaser is some buttons. The first of these will be used to control front seat ventilation, hence confirming that feature. The second is hill descent control, which helps users maintain a fixed speed when they are going down a slope. The last of these is the rear locking differential that locks the rear wheels on the same axle, ensuring they rotate at the same speed. This is an essential function when you are in off-road areas and need more traction to get the car out of the stuck position.
Powertrain of Thar Roxx
The Thar 5-door is expected to offer the same engine options as the 3-door version: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines will be available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The Thar Roxx will feature a 4x4 drivetrain, including a low-ratio gearbox, a mechanical locking rear differential, and a brake-locking front axle. To make the vehicle more affordable, Mahindra may also introduce a two-wheel drive variant.
Features of Thar Roxx
Based on spy shots, the interiors of the Thar Roxx are expected to resemble those of the 3-door version. It will feature the same circular AC vents but with added faux wood accents and a glovebox. The Roxx will also have a similar 3-spoke steering wheel, rear AC vents, and height-adjustable seats. In terms of features, the Thar Roxx is likely to come with a new infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, and a large panoramic sunroof in the higher trims.
Launch of Thar Roxx
The Thar 5-door is scheduled to be unveiled on August 15, continuing Mahindra's tradition of launching new vehicles on Indian Independence Day. While the official pricing has not been announced, the Thar Roxx is expected to be priced at around 15 lakh INR (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the 5-door Force Gurkha.
