Thar 5-Door Gets the Moniker "Thar ROXX": Design Teased

Mahindra has announced Thar Roxx as the name of the 5-door version of its Thar. Along with this announcement, they released the brand film for the product that shows some elements of the exterior design of the massively hyped off-road SUV. Here is all you need to know about it.  

What the Video Shows

There are some elements of the design that we spotted in the video released by Mahindra. It starts with the LED headlights that get C-shaped DRLs around them. After that, we get a view of the alloy wheels that have a sharp design that gives a breath of fresh air compared to the Thar 3-door alloys. It then showcases the rearview mirrors that get a Thar engraving on the front. Moving the rear next, the LED tail lamps resemble a C but are square-shaped instead of round. We also spotted a 4X4 badge next to these lights, indicating there will be a 4WD version of the SUV. The final detail is the Mahindra badge on the front and below it is the signature Thar grill with vertical rectangular styling elements. This grille also seems to feature a small camera that might be for the 360-degree camera. In the final shot, we get a zoomed-out shot of the SUV in full glory, painted in black. One crucial bit we noted from this shot was that the SUV seems to have a fixed hard metal top that was not an option in the Thar 3-door. The video does not reveal any parts of the interior of the SUV. Still, we expect it to be similar to the Thar 3-door inside. 

Launch of Thar ROXX

As we reported earlier, the Thar 5-door will be showcased on August 15, in line with Mahindra's recent tradition of showcasing its cars on Indian Independence Day. While Mahindra hasn't officially announced its price, we expect it to be launched around 15 Lakh (Ex-showroom). When launched, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimmy and the 5-door Force Gurkha.

While retaining the core attributes of the iconic Tharthe ‘Thar ROXX’ represents the larger-than-life personality of a rockstar and will disrupt the SUV category.”
