If there is one homegrown manufacturer that is at the forefront of EV development - then it has to be Tata Motors. The brand has showcased its potential with the Nexon EV, which is currently one of the highest-selling EVs. Last year was pretty healthy for EVs in general, and this year, it seems even more promising with the wider adoption of electric mobility. Today, Tata Motors India has launched the Punch EV with prices ranging between Rs 10.99 lakh for the base Smart variant and goes up to 14.49 lakh for the top-end Empowered+ variant. The bookings for the Punch EV for a token amount of Rs 21,000 began earlier this month. The car is built on the brand's new Gen 2 architecture called Acti.EV. The Long Range variants make 122hp and 190Nm and do 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds. The electric vehicle (EV) is capable of wading through water up to a depth of 350mm and has a ground clearance of 190mm.
In terms of charging , there are two options available: a 3.3kW wall box charger and a faster 7.2kW option. The car also supports DC fast charging, which is perfect for those who are looking for a quick charging solution. With a 50kW fast charger, you can charge your car from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes!
In terms of features, lower variants of the Punch EV are equipped with a smaller, 7-inch infotainment unit. The higher variant does get two large 10.25-inch screens - one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation. Punch EV gets an LED light bar, a split headlamp setup, and a new alloy wheel design to make itself different from its ICE version. We will be driving it soon, so more details will follow soon.
