Skoda has revealed the first design sketches of Elroq, their future electric SUV. This model will steer Skoda into a new “Modern Solid” design philosophy that their upcoming models will have. The model is expected to come out by October 2024 and will be the second EV from the brand after the Enyaq iV. While the signature butterfly grille will be retained, it has a modern fresh interpretation.
Design of Skoda Elroq
The Elroq gets a new ‘Tech-Deck face’ with Skoda spelt out in capital instead of the conventional logo. The headlamp is a split style one, with LED DRLs on top and main LED Matrox tech headlights below on the bumper. The butterfly grille has gotten sleeker, and its space is occupied by a large air intake on the bumper. The sketch shows the car in a Timia Green colour. On the rear, the Elroq looks like the present Skoda SUVs with features similar to the Skoda SUVs that are available currently. These include the Skoda letters in Dark chrome and LED tail lamps. The Skoda logo only exists on the wheels. We currently know that the Elroq EV will be 4.2 metres long. It will get a drag coefficient of just 0.26 and will be able to store 470 litres of language in the boot.
Interior of Skoda Elroq
On the inside, you can see a floating infotainment display below, where we see AC vents and some buttons. The centre console consists of two cup holders, a couple of buttons and a front armrest. The steering has a two-spoke design, with buttons and a Skoda badge. Skoda revealed recently that they are focusing on making the interior of the Skoda Elroq more sustainable. The materials on the inside of the Elroq are composed of 78% recycled PET sourced from items such as plastic water bottles. The remaining material is derived from new PET (16%) and, for the first time also, mechanically recycled fibres recovered from post-consumer clothing (6%). Users will be able to choose from four Design Selections: Studio, Loft, Lodge, and Suite.
Launch of Skoda Elroq
The Skoda Elroq might be available in the European markets at the start of next year. It might even enter India along with its sibling, the Enyaq iV.
