Skoda Kylaq Global Debut Scheduled for November 6

Skoda Kylaq will debut in India on November 6. The much-hyped model will be Skoda's first subcompact SUV in India. It will be underpinned by the same MQB-A0-IN platform that forms the base of the Kushaq. The Kylaq might also share parts with the SUV. The Kylaq will mark the first product under Skoda's 'India 2.5' plan. Here is all we know about the SUV as of now.

Powertrain of the Kylaq

The new SUV will likely be equipped with the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine used in the Kushaq and Slavia. This engine is capable of churning out 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Design of the Kylaq

While the complete design details are yet to be revealed, there are some clues we can take from the teasers and spy shots. The Kylaq will follow Skoda's new 'Modern Solid' design that we recently saw with the sketches of the upcoming Elroq EV. The front will likely feature a typical Skoda grille with LED headlights that will sit right below LED DRLs. It is also likely to get alloy wheels, and connected tail lights appear to echo the styling of the Kushaq. The spy images suggest that the Kylaq will share its front doors with the Kushaq, with the rear doors being much shorter. The SUV is expected to feature high-ground clearance and muscular Fender designs.

Interior of the Kylaq

The Kylaq's interior is expected to be loaded with features. It might share the 10.25-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, similar to the Kushaq. Higher trims may offer features like an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and a sunroof. Like its older sibling, we expect it to get all the safety features like  6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a rear parking camera.

Price and Rivals of the Kylaq

Though Skoda hasn't disclosed the pricing yet, Skoda might be tempted to put a price tag of around ₹8 lakhs to stay competitive. The Kylaq will face stiff competition from compact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
