Skoda Kodiaq vRS Unveiled Globally

vRS fanboys! Have you grown up and in need of a family hauler? Skoda’s newest Kodiaq vRS is now more powerful than ever. Recently unveiled for the global market, this second-gen Kodiaq vRS is said to combine sporty ambitions with family-friendly functionality, but whether it’ll ever see Indian soil remains to be confirmed. According to Skoda, however, it’s worth the hype.

Powering this revamped Kodiaq vRS is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine—the ubiquitous EA888. It’s the same VW Group heart that’s become a legend in its own right, now tuned to deliver 261 bhp. This marks a 19 bhp jump from the last vRS model, all of which is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed DSG auto gearbox. This added power allows the Kodiaq to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.4 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 232 kmph. Performance figures are not often seen on a family-oriented SUV? Absolutely.

But Skoda didn’t stop at power; the company has equipped the new Kodiaq vRS with a Dynamic Chassis Control Plus system, offering a choice of 15 different settings for adaptive damping. That’s everything from a Sport mode for tight, precise handling to a dedicated Snow mode for wintry conditions- if you do plan to take it up north. This system, they say, is what makes the Kodiaq vRS a versatile performer. As for braking power, a new set of ventilated discs is part of the kit, ensuring it stops as confidently as it accelerates.

Visually, it’s not hard to tell this Kodiaq from its standard siblings. A reworked bumper, gloss black exterior details, and a striking light strip that spans the front grille give the vRS a purposeful look, all tied together by 20-inch alloy wheels that show off bright red brake callipers. According to Skoda, these touches remind everyone that this is no ordinary family SUV.

Inside, the vRS offers two distinct design options. The ‘Lounge’ trim serves up microsuede, while the ‘vRS Suite’ boasts genuine leather—all accompanied by a bold red stitching scheme. Both feature chunkier sport seats up front, and Skoda’s Dynamic Sound Boost tech delivers a bit of synthetic rumble into the cabin, keeping the experience engaging for the driver.

Aiming to be both a relaxing drive and a spirited performer, the new Kodiaq vRS has already turned heads globally. And while Skoda remains quiet on its Indian arrival, enthusiasts on our shores can only hope.
