We always talk about Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens for their design, and rightly so. But in some rare instances, our eye goes to a Pagani, and everything changes! The curves, the unmistakable design elements, the suave, every bit of it is just wow. So when we heard there is a new one out there, you can imagine the anticipation. We have it out now, and its name is as dreamy as the car; it's the Pagani Utopia Roadster. Now, technically, it is not a brand-new car but a roadster version of the Coupe, but that doesn't stop it from looking drop-dead gorgeous.
Beautiful Design
The Utopia Roadster gets the signature Pagani looks, with a similar front, butterfly doors, and a recognizable rear, which has the exhaust in the centre. The Roadster goes from a closed hypercar mighty in performance to an open wind-enjoying masterpiece by detaching its lightweight carbon roof, which can be conveniently stored behind the seats. Despite having a removable hardtop roof, the Utopia Roadster maintains the same dry weight as the Coupe at 2,822 pounds. Pagani claims that is due to the monocoque carbo-titanium chassis. There are more than 40 “formulas of composite materials” that further contribute to keeping the weight to a minimum. The car rides on 21-inch wheels in the front and 22-inch ones in the back, which are made of monolithic aluminium alloy and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber.
Powerhouse Under the Hood
Powering the Utopia is the same engine we found in the Utopia Coupe. It is a Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V-12 engine that produces a mammoth 852 bhp and 1100 Nm of torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheels through an electro-mechanical differential in the rear axle. For all of our manual lovers, there is a 7-speed manual gearbox in the car with the option of a transversal automatic for the regular folks. I know you are looking for the hybrid specs. Rejoice, there are none. It is a pure ICE beauty.
This petrol mill can take the car to a max speed of 349 kmph.
Timeless Interior
The interior of the Pagani is a place to be. Unlike modern cars that have screen after screen, the Utopia Roadster goes analogue for almost all of its functions. Everywhere you see, you will find glorious dials and buttons that take you back some decades in nostalgia. The materials are carbon fiber, leather and aluminium majorly. The gear linkage is also exposed with a shifter that gets polished carbon fibre; wow! The steering is flat like we are used to seeing in Paganis, but a fantastic stat about it is that it takes five-axis milling machines 28 hours of tireless work to complete.
Exorbitant Price
The Utopia Roadsters will cost buyers a whopping Rs 28.07 crores (€3.1 million or $3.4 million). There will be only 130 such models, and they will make a debut at the Monterey Car Week in August. It will also get a ‘Sport’ pack that will get carbo-titanium in the seats that have 20 per cent lighter seat padding, paddle shifters, gear lever and floor mats, a titanium exhaust, ‘Aeroblade’ carbon deflectors on the wheels that will keep the Brembo brakes cool, and a set of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres. The owners will be able to customize it the way they prefer, just like other Paganis.
