MG ZS HEV Teased: To Enter India as Astor Facelift?

MG Motors has teased the ZS facelift before it will be unveiled for the international markets on August 28. While we have the ZS EV in India with the same name, the ICE version of the SUV is called the Astor in the Indian market. it will now feature a hybrid powertrain. Know all about this upcoming car ahead: 

The ZS HEV is expected to share the engine present in the MG3. The MG3 engine is a petro mill that is supported by an electric motor. The electric motor derives its power from a 1.83 kWh battery pack that can help the car drive in all electric mode for shorter drives. THe engine by itself produces 101 bhp while the electric motor is capable of making 107 bhp. Together they churn out 192 bho and 4224 Nm of torque. Mated to this would be a special  3-speed automatic transmission that will send power to the front wheels through a FWD setup. It might also gets a turbocharged trim.

The MG ZS is expected to get some changes on the exterior in this facelift. The ones on the front include the new blackened mess front grill, fresh LED headlights and new bumpers that have new air intakes. The side stance does not get major changes with a similar silhouette but its alloys have a new design. The rear features new tail lights and a fresh bumper. 

As we said earlier, we expect the ZS HEV to enter India as the Astor Facelift. This might be announced soon, with the precise timing not revealed yet. That being said, we expect it to happen in a few months time. 

The MG Astor compact SUV was introduced in India in late 2021. It is currently sold two two petrol engine options: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated unit and a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine. It comes equipped with advanced technology, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, AI-powered personal assistant, and a range of safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It rivals various other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urband Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
