Mercedes has revealed that they will launch the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 in India on September 5. This will be just a month after they launched AMG GLC 43 Coupe and CLE Cabriolet. This SUV marks the entry of Maybach in the electric car segment. We know certain details of the car already, as it is already available in the international markets since April 2024. The Maybach EQS 680 is expected to be the flagship electric model for the German Marquee in India on its launch. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming luxury SUV.
Powertrain of Maybach EQS 680
The powertrain of the Maybach EQS 680 are two motors that power the wheels through an AWD setup. They combine together with a total power output of 649 bhp and 950 Nm of maximum torque. When it comes to the acceleration, it can sprint to 100 kph from a dead stop in a mere 4.4 seconds. The highest speed that the SUV can achieve is 210 kmph. These motors derive their power from a 108 kWh battery that can power that car for a claimed range of 600 kilometres when charged fully. You can charge this battery with the 22 kW AC charger given with the car, which is capable of charging it fully in 6 hours and 15 minutes. If you want to charge it faster, then you can also use a 200 kW DC fast charger that gives it a range of up to 220 kilometres after charging for 15 minutes.
You can use the power of the motors in multiple Drive modes including Eco, Sport, Offroad and a special ‘Maybach’ mode. This Maybach mode keeps the rear passenger comfortable by reducing the body movements under the rear seats to the lowest they can be. It also gets Rear-axle steering that can achieve a max steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees for better control over the SUV. There is also an AIrmatic air suspension with continuously adjustable damping that can increase the ground clearance of the Maybach EQS 680 by up to 35 mm.
Design of Maybach EQS 680
On the looks front, the Maybach EQS shares a lot of design elements with the standard EQS. That being said, it is unmistakably a Maybach with all the luxury bits it incorporates. These include a dual tone hue with options like high-tech silver/obsidian black, high-tech silver/nautical blue, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/kalahari gold and velvet brown/onyx black. On the front is a closed off grille with vertical stripes that is synonymous with Maybach like we have earlier seen with the S 680 sedan and GLS 600. The windows too are outlined with chrome elements. The Maybach logo on the D-pillar and Mercedes badge on the bonnet bring class into the SUV.
Interiors of Maybach EQS 68
Step inside the SUV and you will experience the real luxury it offers. The experience starts with a dashboard studded with 3 screens that Mercedes calls the ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’ infotainment package. These are calibrated with Maybach special themes and colourways. On the rear, there are two more screens, 11.6 inch each for entertaining the passengers. This is coupled with a MBUX tablet that you can take along with you after the ride. That’s not all, there is also a MBUX interior that uses cameras to track your hand and body movements for multiple functions. You can enjoy it all sitting on the two executive seats that get ventilation, massage and heating for the neck and shoulder. You can do that while sipping on a drink that was at the perfect temperature thanks to the climate-controlled cup holders.
If these are not enough for you, then you can get the Chauffeur package to fold the front seat for stretching your legs, a centre console that can house two folding tables, silver plated champagne glasses and a cooling compartment.
