Mercedes has revealed the Maybach SL 680 Monogram series. What is it? A more luxurious trim of the already premium SL Roadster. This will be the only two-seater and the sports version of the Maybach ever. How sporty is it? Find out below:
Powertrain of Maybach SL 680
Under the hood of the beautiful SL 680 is a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 mill that is capable of producing a power output of 585 hp and 800 Nm of torque. This is a pure ICE engine with no hybrid interfering with the powerhouse. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, which transfers the power to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ AWD drivetrain from Mercedes. Mercedes has claimed real-world performance numbers of 0-100kph in a mere 4.1 seconds. To improve comfort and luxury, Mercedes has refined the exhaust system to minimize the noise of the engine. Further on, they have provided an insulation and absorption package, along with a suspension setup focused on comfort and soft engine mounts.
Exterior of Maybach SL 680
The grille of the SL 680 is illuminated with vertical elements inside it. It has either a Garnet Red Metallic or Opalite White Magno hue, which is contrasted by an Obsidian Black hood. This hood gets a special Maybach logo pattern along with the roof. The front bumper is also new and has a lot of chrome treatment. The Mercedes logo is on a separate ornament on the bonnet giving it a more grand look. One last interesting part of the exterior design is the fin that extends from the front hood all the way to the rear.
Interior of Maybach SL 680
Entering the cabin, you will see its seats and hood covered in tanned Nappa leather that is crystal white in colour. These seats have an aerodynamic shape and have the Maybach logo engraved on them. There are other parts that are painted in silver chrome.
The price of the Maybach SL 680
Mercedes has not provided us with any number for the prices of the Maybach SL 680. We expect it to get a significant bump over the India price of the 2.44 crore ex-showroom price of the Mercedes-AMG SL 55. We also don't know if the SL 680 will reach the Indian shores. Users in Europe can expect to get their SL 680s in 2025. Other global markets will follow after that.
