Mercedes Project Maybach Concept Car Revealed: Check Out this Futuristic Off-roader

Mercedes unveiled their electric concept car, Project Maybach Virgil Abloh, at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. This concept was initially designed by the Late Virgil Abloh and Gorden in an attempt to envision the future of cars. Mercedes claims they have taken inspiration from the outdoors and tried to recontextualize the brand for a more off-road appeal. Here is all you need to know about it:

Design of Project Maybach Virgil Abloh

The Project Maybach was first launched in the Miami Art Week on December 1, 2021. It was the second collaboration between  Wagener and Abloh. The Project Maybach gets a unique design focussed on a more off-road-centric approach. On the front, it gets a large grille with vertical elements along with circular LED headlights surrounded by LED DRLs with a silver skid plate underneath. Behind a large bonnet is a two-seater interior that rides on large, rugged, off-road-centric wheels. These bonnet hides are transparent and have solar cells under it. Above it are roof racks for storing things for the user’s adventure or even a roof tent. The tail lights follow the same design as the front but have a Maybach logo on the centre.

Interior of Project Maybach Virgil Abloh

On the inside, it has a modern hotel-like interior filled with unique elements. The seats can also convert to a flatbed, while the headrests can also function as blankets. These seats are also removable and can be used in a tent in suitcase style. One unique off-road suited for off-roading is the compass on the dashboard. The majority of the interior is made of either aluminium or soft sandy leather, tanned naturally with coffee shells. It has a large infotainment display and analogue dials for various controls. The steering has a boxy squircle design with a Maybach badging.

How To See Project Maybach Virgil Abloh in Person

If you want to get a glimpse of this concept car, you can visit the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre from now until October 2024. It will be a breath of fresh air from the general car designs.
