Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLE 300d 4Matic AMG Line in India at a starting price of Rs 97.85 lakh (ex-showroom). This model will be the successor to the 300d diesel variant but adds the AMG flair. It costs Rs 1.2 Lakh more than the outgoing variant to add this.
Design of the GLE 300d AMG Line
The GLE 300d AMG line looks almost the same as the GLE 300d but adds an AMG kit, giving it a more aggressive look. The AMG elements include a diamond grille, massive air inlets at the front, AMG-badged side skirts, air vents at the rear, and a rear diffuser. It rides on 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels that feature mightier brake discs on the front.
Interior of GLE 300d AMG Line
As was the case with the interior, the GLE 300d AMG Line is almost the same as its predecessor, the GLE 300d. Taking centre stage are two 12.3-inch screens, used by the driver for the instrument cluster and the passenger for infotainment. The infotainment runs on the second generation of MBUX, Mercedes’ in-house multimedia interface. Users can enjoy their music through the standard 590W 13-speaker Burmester sound system.
Powertrain of GLE 300d AMG Line
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d AMG Line brings no change in the engine front when compared to the GLE 300d. It is powered by a 2-litre diesel mill that is supported by a 48V mild-hybrid Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The combined output of this system is 286 bhp, out of which 266 bhp is provided by the engine and 20 bhp by the ISG. The torque figures stand at 550Nm from the engine and 220Nm from the ISG. This powertrain is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that delivers the power to the wheels through a 4Matic+ AWD drivetrain. The SUV can accelerate from a dead stop to 100 kmph in 6.9 seconds. It can sustain this acceleration to a maximum speed of 230kmph.
Competition of Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d AMG Line
As we stated earlier, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d AMG Line has a starting ex-showroom price of ₹97.85 lakh, replacing the GLE 300d, which was sold at ₹96.65 lakh. The GLE 300d AMG Line is in direct rivalry with the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90, which have price tags of Rs 97 lakh, Rs 88.6 lakh, and Rs 1 crore, respectively.
