Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet launched at Rs 1.10 Crore: Replaces The E-Class

Mercedes has launched the CLE Cabriolet in India at an ex-showroom price of 1.10 Crore. Only the convertible version of the car was launched in India after we saw it internationally in July 2023. Here is all you need to know about this luxurious model:

Platform of CLE Cabriolet

The CLE Cabriolet was first unveiled in the international markets in July 2023. Its base is the Mercedes Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, which also underpins the C-class and the soon-to-be-launched E-class.

Looks of CLE Cabriolet

The CLE borrows look somewhat similar to the E-Class coupe and Cabriolet, which are being discontinued. It has LED headlamps with an option of adaptive high-beam assist, a prominent grille with a shark-nose style, a long bonnet, air intakes, and an automatic. The biggest highlight of the car is the layered fabric hood that disappears into the boot with the touch of a button. It takes 20 seconds to open or close until the speed of 60 kmph. You can get this top in both a black and a red colour. The Indian variant gets the AMG Line trim, which has some additional bold elements like on the bumpers. The CLE Cabriolet rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

Interior of CLE Cabriolet

The interior has an 11.9-inch infotainment screen in portrait style, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Its 2+2 seating capacity with a fresh design on the front seats accommodates 4 people. These front seats are heated and get headrests and 4-way lumbar support. The CLE is also the first Cabriolet that has separate head airbags for the rear passengers.

Powertrain of CLE Cabriolet

While internationally, the CLE gets a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol powerhouse that has two performance tunings, CLE 200 and CLE 300 4Martic; the Indian market only gets the 300 variant. This engine is supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system. The complete powertrain produces a maximum power of 254 bhp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. This engine is paired with a 9-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. Talking of acceleration figures, it can go from 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and sustain this up to 250 kmph.

Price of CLE Cabriolet

The CLE Cabriolet, with a price tag of Rs 1.10 Crore, is closely competed with the BMW Z4 M40i, which retails for Rs 90.90 lakh.
