Mahindra Thar Roxx Launched at 12.99 Lakh

Mahindra has launched the Thar Roxx at an introductory price of Rs 12.99 lakh. This price applies to the 2WD petrol version while the diesel starts at Rs 13.99 Lakh. The Roxx brings multiple changes compared to the 3-door version. Here is all you need to know about it.

Design of Thar Roxx

The Thar Roxx keeps the Thar's soul intact while introducing some changes. The front gets new LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLS surrounding them, along with a new bumper and a new grille with vertical rectangular styling bits. The spare wheel mounted at the rear with the removable part of the roof finished in black completes the look of the Thar Roxx. The wheels on the SUV are 18 inches.

Features of the Thar Roxx

The interior feels similar to the Thar 3-door and a few more Mahindras. The circular AC vents are surrounded by a leatherette dashboard and a glovebox. Steering the car is a familiar 3-spoke wheel you can operate sitting on its height-adjustable seats. It also features rear AC vents for the rear seat passengers.

On the feature front, the Thar Roxx comes equipped with a 10.24-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android auto and Apple carplay, automatic climate control, a digital instrument panel, an automatic parking brake, ventilated seats, Harman Kardon audio system and a large panoramic sunroof in the top trims. For safety, the car gets 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Brake Locking Differential.

Powertrain of Thar Roxx

The Thar 5-door offers the same two engine options as the Thar 3-door: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The petrol mill can produce 158 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel unit produces 148 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. These engines can be mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Thar Roxx features both a 4x4 and 4x2 drivetrain.

Competitors of the Thar Roxx

The direct competitors of the Thar Roxx in the off-road segment are Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha. That being said, it also competes with other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
