If there is one SUV that has been highly coveted and has gone on to develop a cult following, then it has to be the Mahindra Thar. Ever since its launch in 2020, the demand for it has been extremely high. The craze for the lifestyle vehicle was/is very well fulfilled by the Thar. Mahindra then went on to make the RWD version of Thar, which increased the value quotient. Mahindra has now launched the Thar Earth Edition to bump the desirability quotient. However, the Thar Earth Edition will be available only in the 4X4 option. The prices for the limited-edition Thar Earth Edition start from Rs 15.4 lakh and go to Rs 17.6 lakh for the top version. It will be available only in the LX Hard Top variant.
Thar Earth Edition has a special Desert Fury colour across its body, grille, and ORVMs, paired with new silver alloy wheels and matte-black badges. It has custom dune-inspired decals and exclusive Earth Edition badging on the B pillars. On the inside, it gets beige leatherette seats with ‘shifting dunes’ patterns and matching Desert Fury-coloured touches. The cabin is further enhanced with Desert Fury inserts on the AC vents, steering wheel, center console accent and the Thar branding on doors. The theme is elevated with embellishments of dark chrome accents. Thar Earth Edition SUV will come with a unique numbered decorative VIN plate starting with serial number 1.
Mahindra Thar has two engine options: a 2.0-litre petrol unit producing 152hp of peak power and 300Nm of torque and a 2.2-l diesel motor with a peak power output of 132 hp and 300Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
