Lexus has expanded the lineup of its flagship SUV, the Lexus LX, with a new hybrid variant, the LX 700h. This new addition provides a third powertrain option, joining the existing petrol and diesel versions. According to the brand, the LX 700h has a petrol-hybrid system catering to the growing demand for electrified vehicles. Alongside this powertrain update, the entire LX range has received various tech and feature upgrades.
LX 700h: Power Meets Hybrid Efficiency
The LX 700h is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine paired with an electric motor, creating a parallel hybrid system. According to preliminary figures, this advanced hybrid setup delivers an impressive 457 bhp and 790Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox for optimal power delivery across various driving conditions. Like its siblings in the LX range, the LX 700h comes standard with four-wheel drive, making it well-suited for both on-road and off-road adventures.
This new hybrid system is designed to balance power and efficiency, positioning the LX 700h as a versatile option for luxury SUV buyers. Notably, the same V6 petrol-hybrid engine will also feature in the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser 300, underscoring Toyota and Lexus' shared focus on advanced hybrid technology.
Updated Features Across the LX Line-up
Lexus has also introduced several tech and feature updates across the entire LX range. The SUV now has a revamped 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, providing a clearer and more immersive driving experience. Wireless charging pads have been updated for faster charging.
Introducing the LX Overtrail Edition
In addition to the new hybrid powertrain, Lexus has launched a special off-road-focused "Overtrail" edition for the LX. This rugged variant is aimed at buyers who want a more adventurous and capable version of the luxury SUV. The Overtrail edition features unique alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tyres, further enhancing its off-road prowess. Exterior highlights include a blacked-out grille and accents, complemented by an exclusive Moon Desert paint finish.
Inside, the Overtrail edition offers low-saturation monolith upholstery and ash burl black accents, which contribute to a sense of durability and sophistication.
Advanced Off-Road Capability
The LX Overtrail is equipped with a full suite of off-road technologies. This includes front and rear differential locks and a central differential lock, which is standard across all LX trims. These features provide traction and control in challenging terrains, ensuring the LX remains composed and capable during off-road excursions.

The LX 700h and the updated LX line-up are set to debut in North America first, followed by other global markets.
