The Kia Carnival has been missing in the Indian market since 2023 while the EV9 has caused a storm globally but hasn't entered india. We have good news about both of them, they will be launched together in India on October 3. Here is what to expect from both of them:
Kia Carnival
The Kia Carnival is a premium MPV that had a short run in the Indian market between 2020 and 2023. The MPV is now about to make a comeback to our country in a fresh facelifted version that we saw in the Auto Expo 2023.
This new version is a lot meaner and boxier than before. It does away with the classy MPV look and opts for a more bold SUV stance. The grille and headlights confirm it is a Kia with the traditional tiger-nose grille. It also gets a faux skid plate and chrome finish on the air intake.
The interior of the Carnival now features twin 12.3-inch screens that serve as an infotainment panel and digital instrument cluster. Other features of the car include a 3-zone climate control, wireless charging among others. It might offer the users a choice of 7 or 9 seat layout on launch. Powering it would be a 2.2-litre diesel engine that can produce 197 bhp and 440 Nm of torque. On its return in India, it will compete with cars like the Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Innova Hycross, Mercedes Benz V class and Toyota Vellfire.
Kia EV9
The Kia EV9 is all set to be the first EV in India with 3 rows of seating. It will be the second electric offering from the company after the EV6.It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering up to 379 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The EV9 in the international market has a 99.8 kWh battery that can power the EV for a claimed range of around 483 km on a full charge. It supports ultra-fast 350 kW DC charging, allowing for an 80% charge in approximately 20-30 minutes. The EV9’s interior gets features like a 12.3-inch dual panoramic display, a head-up display, wireless charging and bi-directional charging. On the safety front it gets multiple airbags along with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Highway Driving Pilot for semi-autonomous driving. The EV9 will not have any direct competitors when it will be launched in the Indian market this october.
