Hyundai to Launch Alcazar Facelift on September 9

The Hyundai Alcazar facelift will be launched in India on September 9. The 7-seater version of the popular SUV Creta is expected to get a major overhaul on the inside out. It has been one of the worst performers of the Hyundai portfolio for a while, managing only 585 unit sales in July 2024. This is massively behind the XUV700, which sold 7,769 units at the same time. Here is all that we know about the Alcazar facelift:

Design Changes of Alcazar Facelift

Going by the test mules we have observed, the Alcazar Facelift will bring multiple changes to the looks of the outgoing model. These include split headlights on the front, a new grill and freshly designed bumpers. On the side, the cladding and alloy wheels are also changed. On the back, it will feature a new tail light design along with a fresh tailgate.

Interior of Alcazar Facelift

The first and most significant upgrade we expect on the inside is the presence of the dual-screen setup that made a debut in the new Creta. These are both 10.25-inch panels used for infotainment and driving details. The new generation will have the option of a 7-seat layout with a bench on the middle row or a 6-seat layout with captain seats.

Powertrain of Alcazar Facelift

One aspect where the Alcazar Facelift remains precisely the same as the current model is the engine. It will offer either a petrol or diesel mill. The petrol is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit that produces 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the other hand, the diesel is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated powerhouse that churns out 113 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. This engine can be had with either the same 6-speed manual as the petrol or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Price and Competition of Alcazar Facelift

The facelift is expected to increase the price of the Alcazar. For reference, the current generation starts at an ex-showroom price of 16.77 lakh and can go up to Rs 21.27 lakh. It will rival other 7-seater SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Kia Carens, and the Mahindra Scorpio-N.
