Hyundai Launches Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG at 7.75 Lakh

Hyundai has added their dual-cylinder CNG tech to the Grand i10 Nios after the Exter. The layout of the cylinders is the same, i.e. two cylinders replacing the single cylinder found in general CNG cars. The price of this variant ranges from  Rs 7.75 lakh to 8.30 lakh.

What is Dual-Cylinder CNG

The distinctive aspect of this technology is that it employs two cylinders to store the CNG instead of the single unit commonly found in most CNG cars, thereby providing users with additional trunk space.

Variants of Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG

The dual-cylinder CNG Nios will cost users exactly Rs 7,000 more than the single-cylinder CNG options that will still be on sale. The difference to the petrol variants is about Rs 97,000. You can buy the CNG kit with two car variants: Magna and Sportz. The Magna variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 7,75,300, while the Sportz is priced at Rs 8,30,000.

Powertrain of Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG

The engine powering the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder churns out 68 Bhp and 95 Nm of torque in the CNG mode and 82 Bhp and 114 Nm when running on petrol. With the CNG offering, you only get a 5-speed manual transmission.

Features of Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG

Regarding the features, the Hy-CNG shares all of the features of the standard variant. It has projector headlamps, LED DRL and LED Tail Lamp, Roof rails, and a shark fin antenna on the outside. Moving to the cabin, there are features like an 8-inch infotainment panel, rear AC vents, footwell lighting, and adjusted steering. It also has safety features like six airbags apart from a rear-parking camera, day/night IRVM, ESC and hill hold control.

Competition of Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG

The dual-cylinder tech is only present in the Tata Tiago in the competition, but it undercuts the i10 Nios with a price range of Rs 6.60 lakh to 8.35 lakh. The Tiago's advantage is that it also gets an AMT variant along with the manual. The Wagon R and Celerio also compete with the i10 Nios but do not offer dual-cylinder tech.
