Hyundai has become the second OEM in India to offer a Dual Cylinder CNG option with its cars, starting with the Hyundai Exter at a price of Rs 8.50 Lakh. What is the big deal about this, and how is it implemented? Find out below:
Powertrain of Exter CNG
Under the hood is the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol guzzler found in the standard Exter. When using CNG, this engine produces 69 bhp and 95.2 Nm of torque. Paired to it is a 5-speed manual transmission. Hyundai claims that it gives a fuel efficiency of 27.1 km/kg when used with CNG. The CNG system in the car also gets an Integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that lets users smoothly transition from CNG to Petrol and the other way around.
What is Dual-Cylinder CNG
The unique part of this technology is that it uses two cylinders to hold the CNG instead of the single unit found in most CNG cars. This gives users increased trunk space.
The implementation of this tech increases the price of the standard S and SX variants by Rs 7,000. You can also buy the CNG variant in the recently launched Knight Edition.
Features of Exter CNG
The features of the Exter CNG remain the same as those of the standard model. These include a sunroof, automatic climate control, 8-inch infotainment display and wireless charging. It also focuses on safety with features like 6 airbags, TPMS Highline, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-Start Assist Control.

Variants of Exter CNG
The Exter Hy-CNG Duo is available in three variants: S, SX, and Knight SX. The S variant costs 8.5 Lakh, while the SX costs 9.23 Lakh. The special Knight SX costs 9.38 Lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
