German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has given its A-class Limousine and AMG A45S a facelift. However, the changes are minimal, but the step in prices is a bit more significant. The A-class limousine is a 3.8-lakhs premium to its exciting model at 45.8 lakhs, whereas the hatchback AMG A45S gets a bump in price by about 8.7 lakhs. Mercedes-Benz has officially said that A-class Limousine in diesel guise will be introduced in Q4 of 2023.
As I said, changes are very minimal. Overall, the silhouette is the same, apart from a new LED daytime running lamp design. A200 also gets a new-look bumper with redesigned intakes and a redesigned grille. The 17-inch alloy design has also been changed. In comparison, AMG A45S has almost received changes in the front and rear bumper along with new LED and tail lamps. However, the design of 19-inch alloys remains the same.
On the inside, there are hardly any changes apart from the addition of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The steering also features touch-capacitive controls, which are sometimes more annoying than helpful.
The powertrain for both the sedan and hatchback remains unchanged. The A-Class Limousine gets the same 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 161bhp of power and 270Nm of torque delivered to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. On the other hand, AMG A45S also gets the same powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 415 bhp of power and 500Nm of torque, delivering power to all four wheels with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that is capable of propelling it from 0-100kmph in just 3.9 seconds.
Currently, AMG A45 S is a unique proposition with no direct rivals, whereas A200 goes up against BMW 2 Series GC, which is priced between 43.50 lakh-45.50 lakh.
