Citroen has revealed the C3 Aircross and C3 Aircross EV in the European markets. This version looks completely different from the C3 Aircross we saw in India, even at first glance. One significant difference is the powertrain options, with the European model getting a combustion, hybrid and electric option. The changes on the exterior also carry forward on the inside with a set of extra features over its India counterpart. Let’s dive deep into it:
Design of C3 Aircross
The European-spec C3 Aircross has a sleeker look than the Indian version due to some extra reading. The front gets a new closed nose, updated C-shaped headlights, tri-LED projector lights, and many LED DRLs. The rear end is quite similar, too; if you bar the taillights, you get a chevron pattern bumper coupled with a Citroen double-chevron logo. The SUV rolls on 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The European C3 Aircross is higher even in length, with a 4.39 metre higher than the 4.32 metre present in the Indian version.
Powertrain of C3 Aircross
As mentioned earlier, the C3 Aircross offers all three combustion options, hybrid, and electric powertrain options. The entry-level variants have a Turbo petrol engine that produces 101 bhp of power. This engine complies with Euro 7 emission standards and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The hybrid engines include a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine that produces 134 bhp and is mated to a dual-clutch transmission. The electric motor derives its power from a 48-V lithium-ion battery that generates 28 hp itself.
When it comes to the electric variant, there is a 44 kWh battery pack that provides the power to an 11 bhp electric motor. This electric motor can power the SUV to a speed of 145 kmph and can last for a range of 300 km after a full charge. To charge this battery, you can use a 100 kW DC fast charger that charges it from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 26 minutes. The charging time ranges from 2 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 10 minutes while using an AC charger at home. Citroen also said that they will launch another version that would last for a range of 400 km.
Features of C3 Aircross
The Euro-spec model features 15W wireless phone charging, auto climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, electrically folding ORVMs with a heating function, and a heads-up display. The 10.2-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity takes centre stage.
Safety of C3 Aircross
The C3 Aircross does well even on the safety front, with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake. It also gets ADAS level 2 with features like active safety braking, lane keep assist, driver alert, sign recognition, high beam assist, and blind spot monitor.
