The Citroen Basalt is days away from being unveiled. Yet, the part we barely knew about until now was the interior. We have now gotten a teaser that shows some outer elements of the car and gives some insights into the inside. This teaser comes very close to when the Tata Curvv was unveiled. Here is what we found in the latest teaser about the Basalt.
What the Teaser Reveals
In the teaser, there are some parts of the interior upgrades that Citroen has revealed. The first are the armrests that are available to both the front and rear passengers. The rear armrest also has the additional convenience of a phone holder. The last is the side supports for the headrests. One small hint of the dashboard also reveals the presence of an infotainment panel. The teaser has also revealed the Basalt's production version's official look for the first time. As we expected, it gets LED DRLs and projector headlamps that are eventually expected to make their way into the C3 Aircross in its future upgrades.
What We Know about the Basalt
Apart from the revealed details, we know some design elements of the Basalt from its concept. These include a split grille and headlight housing, which is in line with Citroen's current design language. Its most noticeable part is the sloping, coupe-like roof, like the Tata Curvv and a unique rear design. The yellow hue of the car also gives it a modern appeal. When it comes to the features, we expect it to get a 7-inch digital instrument panel, automatic climate control, cruise control, and push-button engine start/stop. For safety, it might come equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It might be powered by the same engine found under the hood of the Citroen C3 Aircross. This is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol guzzler that churns out 108 bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque. It will be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Launch and Rivals of Basalt
The Basalt will be showcased on August 2 and launched sometime after that. It will be a direct rival to the Tata Curvv and the top sellers Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, Elevate, Hyryder, Taigun, Kushaq, and Astor. Do you think the Basalt can be the game changer for Citroen in India?
