BYD Seal Facelift Revealed in China

BYD has revealed a facelift of the Seal in China with multiple updates on the inside out. These include some tweaks to the design along with a completely refreshed interior of the EV. It also brings new charging tech and improves safety with ADAS.

Design of BYD Seal Facelift

The changes in the exterior of the Seal are just evolutionary in nature. If you don't look at it in great detail, it is hard to set the facelift apart from the current generation. The first of these is a new purple hue along with a fresh alloy wheel design. Along with these is a bright red BYD logo on the rear and a Lidar sensor on the top of the car. This sensor will work towards making the adaptive cruise and automated parking of the car even better.

The actual change in the facelift is in the cabin of the new Seal. It starts with the new steering that is flat at the base and gets four spokes. Along with that, there is a two-tone tan and grey theme for the interior, along with a black dashboard with a subtle design. The AC vents also get moved away from the sides of the infotainment panel to below it.

New Tech of BYD Seal Facelift

The updated BYD Seal features a new 800V architecture for charging. This architecture is, also called 'e-Platform 3.0 Evo", helps the EV charge quicker. This is a major upgrade over the current generation's 400V architecture. The current tech helps the EV charge from 10-80 per cent in just 25 minutes, which is 12 minutes less than the 37-minute time of the current generation.

In the Chinese market, the BYD Seal EV comes with two battery options: 61.44kWh and 80.64kWh, which provide a range of up to 700km on the CLTC cycle. Meanwhile, in India, the all-electric sedan is offered with 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh battery packs, which deliver a maximum range of 650 km on the NEDC cycle.

India Launch of BYD Seal Facelift

BYD has not revealed any details of the India launch of the BYD Seal facelift. It seems unlikely to happen in the near future as BYD launched the Sear in India at 41 Lakhs just 5 months back. It locks horns with the EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
