BYD India Launches the eMax 7 MPV

BYD India has officially unveiled the much-anticipated eMax 7 MPV, a facelifted version of the e6 electric vehicle, priced competitively from Rs 26.9 lakh for the entry-level Premium trim to Rs 29.9 lakh for the top-spec Superior variant. The eMax 7 is designed to cater to family and fleet needs, offering a three-row configuration that competes directly with the popular Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid, which ranges from Rs 25.97 lakh to Rs 30.98 lakh. Deliveries are expected to commence in the coming weeks, following the opening of bookings on September 20 for a token amount of Rs 51,000.

Key Pricing and Variants:

The eMax 7 is available in two trims with 6- and 7-seat configurations:

Premium 6S: Rs 26.9 lakh
Premium 7S: Rs 27.5 lakh

Superior 6S: Rs 29.3 lakh
Superior 7S: Rs 29.9 lakh

Design Overhaul:

The eMax 7 sports a significant design overhaul, presenting a more modern and stylish appearance. The exterior features mildly altered headlamps and taillamps, new bumper designs with chrome accents, and 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 225/55 R17 tyres.

Colour Choices:

The MPV is available in four vibrant colours: Quartz Blue, Harbour Grey, Crystal White, and Cosmos Black.

Interior and Features:

Step inside the eMax 7, and you’ll notice a focus on comfort and technology. A newly designed 12.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system replaces the previous 10.1-inch display. The interior features soft-touch materials throughout, enhancing the overall feel of luxury. The revised centre console includes two wireless charging pads, updated switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. The Superior trim has Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a fixed panoramic glass roof, powered and ventilated front seats, frameless front wipers, and roof rails. Both trims have six airbags, front and rear disc brakes, and a 360-degree camera.

Powertrain and Performance:

Premium Trim: A 55.4kWh battery that delivers an NEDC range of 420km, producing 160bhp and a claimed 0-100 kmph in 10.1 seconds.
Superior Trim: A 71.8kWh battery providing a range of 530km, with power output increased to 201bhp and a quicker 0-100 kmph of 8.6 seconds.

Both variants deliver 310Nm of torque.
This marks a significant upgrade from the e6, which offered only 90bhp and 180Nm. The eMax 7 has a claimed top speed of 180kmph.

Charging Capabilities:

Both trims are equipped with a 7kW AC charger. The Premium variant supports 89kW DC fast charging, while the Superior variant can charge up to 115kW. The eMax 7 also features vehicle-to-load charging capability, making it helpful for various power needs.

Warranty and After-Sales Support:

BYD ensures peace of mind with an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty for the battery and an 8-year/1.5 lakh km warranty for the motor, reflecting confidence in the eMax 7's durability and reliability.
