BMW X3 LWB Revealed in China: To Enter India Soon?

BMW has unveiled the latest X3 Long Wheelbase (LWB) model in China. This is the first long-wheelbase version of the X3, which will be manufactured and retailed in China. Two variants of this SUV will be sold in the form of the 25L xDrive and the 30L xDrive. This model might follow the steps of the 5 series LWB, which also made an India debut after China.

Design of the BMW X3 LWB

On the design front, the BMW X3 LWB looks quite similar to the international version of the X3. It also follows the design cues we saw on the X1 and X2. The front has a large kidney grille with interesting vertical and diagonal styling bits. The LED headlights have two LED L-shaped DRLs each. The side obviously looks lengthier thanks to its longer wheelbase that has jumped up by 110 mm. The overall dimensions of the SUV include a length of 4,865 mm and a width of 1,920 mm. The X3 25L xDrive is equipped with the M Sport Package with standard exterior elements such as body-coloured front and rear components and titanium bronze accents. In contrast, the X3 30L xDrive boasts a sportier appearance, characterised by a greater use of black surfaces.

Interior of the BMW X3 LWB

On the Inside, it is hard to set apart the X3 LWB with the X3 except for the improved space through its longer wheelbase. It looks modern with the use of the BMW Curved Display. This curved display consists of a 14.9-inch infotainment panel along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Steering the car is a flat-bottom steering wheel with a BMW Interaction Bar on the dashboard. For the comfort of the passengers, BMW has added Vaganza sports seats as a standard, which can be had in three two-tone variations. You also get additional features like wireless smartphone charging and a panoramic sunroof with optional lighting.

Powertrain of the BMW X3 LWB

Under the hood of the BMW X3 LWB is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol powerhouse that can be had in two tuning states. The one on the X3 25L xDrive produces 188 bhp and 310 Nm. On the other hand, the X3 30L xDrive version has the engine tuned for churning out 254 bhp and 400 Nm. Irrespective of the tune, the engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the wheels through an all-wheel drive powertrain.

India Launch of the BMW X3 LWB

We do not have any direct information on the India launch of the BMW X3 LWB in India. That being said, India also has a similar user demographic to China, i.e. users who prefer to be Chauffeur driven. BMW addressed this with the introduction of the 5 series LWB in India and might do the same with the X3 LWB. For now, India gets the X3’s xDrive20d M Sport variant, which gets a price tag of 72.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This model also gets a special Shadow Edition that is cost Rs 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
