Ather recently showcased its latest developments at its annual Community Day event, highlighting a new vehicle platform, concepts, software upgrades, and updates to its existing scooter lineup. The company's goal seems to be building a more scalable and versatile foundation for its next generation of electric scooters.
The New EL Platform: A Foundation for Growth
The biggest announcement was the all-new EL platform, the first new architecture from Ather since the 450. This platform is designed to be more versatile and cost-effective, allowing Ather to build different types of scooters on a single foundation. The new design simplifies the architecture, which the company says will lead to faster assembly and quicker service times. It also features an Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) for improved safety and a new controller that combines the charger and motor controller, which means riders won't need to carry a portable charger.
Ather also provided a glimpse of the future with a concept "moto-scooter" called Redux. This vehicle, built with materials like a lightweight aluminium frame and a 3D-printed seat, is meant to explore new ideas around performance and rider experience.

AtherStack 7.0: A Smarter Ride
Ather is rolling out a major software update, AtherStack 7.0, which brings voice interaction to its scooters. The system uses a large language model trained for Indian dialects, allowing for more natural conversations. The update also includes new safety features like Pothole Alerts, which warn riders of rough road patches, and Crash Alerts, which can automatically notify emergency contacts in case of a severe accident. For security, new features called ParkSafe and LockSafe help riders with theft protection and parking alerts. This update will be available to Rizta Z and Ather 450X (Gen 3 and later) owners via an over-the-air (OTA) update.
The HALO smart helmet also received some updates, including new colours, a pinlock-compatible visor, and a USB-C charging port.
Infinite Cruise: Cruise Control for Indian Roads
For the 2025 Ather 450 Apex, the company is introducing Infinite Cruise, a new take on cruise control designed for the varied conditions of Indian roads. The system has three modes: CityCruise for adapting to traffic, Hill Control for managing inclines and descents, and Crawl Control for navigating at very low speeds on rough terrain. This feature will be rolled out to existing 2025 Ather 450 Apex scooters through a software update.
Rizta and Charging Get an Upgrade
The family scooter Rizta Z is also getting an update. Existing owners will receive an OTA update that activates the built-in touchscreen dashboard and a new Eco Mode. A new Terracotta Red colour option has also been added to the lineup.
Finally, Ather announced a next-generation fast charger. This new 6 kW charger is half the size of the previous one and can double the charging speed on select models, adding up to 30 km of range in just 10 minutes. Some of these chargers will also include a built-in tire inflator.
