The Aprilia Tuono 457 has officially launched in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.95 lakh. The Tuono 457 is designed for riders looking for a more upright riding position compared to its fully-faired sibling, the Aprilia RS 457. Bookings for the motorcycle are now open, with deliveries set to begin in March 2025.
Design
Historically, Tuono models have shared a design language with the RS series, making them semi-naked motorcycles. However, this time, Aprilia has completely redesigned the Tuono from the ground up.
The Tuono 457 features an aggressive front design with sharp DRLs, a central headlight with a small lower spoiler inspired by the Tuono 1000 R, and a full LED tail section. A large fuel tank adds to its muscular stance, while the V-shaped side panels expose the 457cc engine from the side profile, giving it a sporty look.
With a seat height of 800mm, the Tuono 457 is an approachable motorcycle suitable for rides of all sizes; the passenger seat seems comfortable, but more on that in our first ride review. The exhaust located is under the engine, giving the motorcycle a clean look and allowing better positioning of the passenger footrests.
The motorcycle is available in two colour options: Piranha Red (sporty red and black) and Puma Grey (a subtle grey and white finish).
Powertrain
The Tuono 457 is powered by a 457cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It delivers maximum power of 46.9 bhp at 9,400 rpm and 43.5 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm. With a dry weight of 159 kg, the motorcycle has an impressive power-to-weight ratio.
Chassis and Suspension
One of the standout features of the Tuono 457 is its aluminium frame, a rarity in this segment. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm front forks and a rear monoshock, both preload-adjustable.
Braking performance comes from a 320mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, paired with a dual-channel ABS featuring two modes.
Electronics and Features
The Tuono 457 has a ride-by-wire throttle, three riding modes: Eco, Sport, and Rain and adjustable traction control. It also comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
Conclusion
At ₹3.95 lakh, the Tuono 457 is competitively priced. Its closest competitor is the Yamaha MT-03, especially after Yamaha’s recent price revision. The RS 475 was a fan favourite, and a naked version of that motorcycle is bound to succeed, in our opinion.
