If there has to be any specific model that drives the sales chart for Mercedes, then it should definitely be the GLC. It is one of the most popular models that have managed to sell more than 2.6 million units globally. In India, it has already garnered over 1500 bookings in such a short span of time. Today, the second-generation GLC is launched at Rs 73.5 lakh (ex-showroom ) for the 300 4Matic petrol version and Rs 74.5 lakh for the 220d 4Matic diesel variant. The new GLC at 4,716mm is 60mm longer than before, wheelbase at 2,888mm is 15mm elongated; however, the new GLC is shorter by 4mm at 1,640mm, while the width remains the same at 1,890mm. New GLC gets decent GC, which can be further raised by 20mm. Furthermore, in off-road mode, it scans the road beneath it for needed assistance. The capacity of the boot has been expanded by 70 liters, resulting in a total volume of 620 liters.
On the inside, the design layout is remeniscient of the new C-class. It also gets Maybach S-Class inspired pinstripe pattern. The car now gets an air purifier, 360-degree camera, 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and heated front seats with memory function.It miises out on ventilated front seats along with massage function. It gets 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and 12.3-inch instrument display.In terms of safety it gets it gets 7 airbags and ADAS technology.
The car bearing plate number GLC 300 boasts a powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 258 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The GLC 220d, on the other hand, features a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 197 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. Both engines have a standard 9-speed automatic gearbox, a standard Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, and a 48V mild-hybrid system. Additionally, the GLC is equipped with an integrated starter generator that provides an extra 23 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque.
The new GLC goes up aginst BMW X3 , Audi Q5 , Lexus NX and Volvo XC60. Compared all these mentioned models, the base model of GLC is expensive.
