Mahindra has hit a significant milestone in electric mobility with over 3,000 deliveries of its all-electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and the BE 6, since the commencement of deliveries on 20 March 2025.
Booking and High Demand
Mahinda reports that 59% of bookings are for the XEV 9e, while the remaining 41% are for the BE 6. This demonstrates the consistent demand for SUVs in the Indian market. Most customers have opted for the feature-packed top-spec variant (Pack Three). Mahindra is ramping production to meet the high demand and reduce delivery delays.
Default Mode & Tutorials
India is a young EV market, and most customers are first-time EV owners. To ease the transition from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles, Mahindra introduced a ‘Default’ drive mode. The Default mode is designed to mimic the feel of ICE vehicles, aiming to make EV adoption more intuitive for newcomers.
Video tutorials support each delivery to educate new owners. These guides cover charging practices, efficient driving techniques to extend range, and features of the vehicle’s connected technologies.
Conclusion
Mahindra is providing Indian consumers with exactly what the market lacked—an electric SUV packed with top-of-the-line features and flashy looks. Very few Indian brands are able to make aspirational machines. Mahindra, on the other hand, has nailed the formula when it comes to selling such vehicles in India. Mahindra's commitment to educating customers on EVs and making them feel at home with the transition will pay off in the Indian market. If the current momentum continues, Mahindra will emerge as a leader in the Indian EV industry.
