Ferrari Bids Farewell to SF90 Stradale and 812 GTS

Ferrari’s latest report on its first-half 2024 sales reveals not only a rosy financial picture but also some significant lineup changes. The Maranello-based automaker raked in a net profit of €765 million and delivered 7,044 cars in the first six months – up 21% and 1% respectively. But the real headline here is the end of the road for the standard SF90.

Farewell, SF90 Stradale

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 hybrid SF90, introduced in 2019, has reached the typical five-year lifespan for Ferraris. While the lighter, more potent SF90 XX continues in limited production, it won’t be long before it too becomes a rare collectible. The SF90’s duties will largely be handed over to the more affordable, V6-powered 296, but a successor to the SF90 is already in the works, with prototypes spotted testing.

812 GTS and the 12Cilindri

Joining the SF90 in retirement is the 812 GTS, Ferrari’s V12 grand tourer. The coupe version ended production earlier, and now, the 812 Competizione’s days are numbered. Ferrari has already unveiled the stunning 12Cilindri as the 812 family’s replacement, marking a new chapter for V12 aficionados.

Roma and the Road Ahead

The Roma, Ferrari’s junior V8-powered coupe, is also on its way out, though the Spider version, barely a year and a half old, will stick around a bit longer. Whether it will get a direct replacement remains uncertain.

Interestingly, Ferrari's pure internal combustion cars have slightly outsold its hybrids (52% to 48%) in Q2 of 2024. Production of the limited-run Daytona SP3 even saw a slight increase compared to the same period last year.

What’s Next for Ferrari?

With the 12Cilindri production ramping up, a LaFerrari successor on the horizon, and the unveiling of Ferrari’s first full EV imminent, Maranello is buzzing with activity. The pace at Ferrari shows no signs of slowing down, promising a thrilling future for fans and collectors alike.
