The Shelby GT350 and GT350R Set to Return in 2025

Shelby American has unveiled the 2025 Shelby GT350 and GT350R, bringing back a legendary name in the world of high-performance cars. Almost 60 years after Carroll Shelby revealed the first GT350, the new models promise even more power and precision for street and track enthusiasts.

A Nod to History

Unveiled at the Barrett-Jackson stage in Scottsdale, Arizona, the 2025 GT350 models celebrate the legacy of the original car launched on January 27, 1965. "Sixty years ago, the Shelby GT350 marked a new chapter in performance and motorsports history," said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American.

The 2025 lineup stays true to this legacy while incorporating modern engineering and design.

Models

The 2025 Shelby GT350 will be available in two versions:

  • Street Version: A 5.0L V8 engine with options for 473.4 bhp or a supercharged 799 bhp, paired with a manual or automatic transmission. Prices start at $109,999 (Rs 94,82,574).

  • Track-Ready GT350R is a street-legal powerhouse with over 818.6 bhp and a six-speed manual transmission. This version features high-performance components like carbon fibre interior parts, an integrated roll cage, and advanced racing suspension.

Vince LaViolette, Vice President of Operations at Shelby American, said, "We increased horsepower by almost 70 per cent, tuned the suspension, opened up the exhaust, smoothed the aerodynamics, and gave it more sex appeal."

Limited Production

As a tribute to the 1965 original, only 562 GT350s will be produced, with just 36 GT350R models available. These exclusive cars will be built in Michigan in collaboration with Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports, a company renowned for its expertise in performance racing vehicles.

A Return to Racing

Shelby American also announced plans to reenter competitive racing. In partnership with Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports, they are developing a Trans Am-spec race car to debut in the 2026 season.

"Along with capturing the FIA sports car world championship in 1965, Shelby-built cars and teams won Trans Am championships in 1966 and 1967," said Aaron Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby. "We're excited to return Shelby to racing with a car built to compete and win."

Where to Find the 2025 Shelby GT350

Production of the street cars will begin in the second quarter of 2025, with availability through selected Ford dealers in the U.S. and Shelby's international distributors.

As Gary Patterson, President of Shelby American, stated: "From the 60th-anniversary badges to the aero package and Shelby-spec wheels, this car is worthy of the iconic GT350 name."
