2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 Pro launched in India, pricing starts at Rs 3 crore

Two years after its global unveiling, Mercedes-AMG has finally brought the second generation AMG GT to Indian shores. The flagship grand tourer is a part of the brand's strategy to add 8 models to its lineup, and is available in two variants: the GT 63 and the GT 63 Pro, with ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 3 and 3.65 crore for both the models respectively. The new AMG GT gets sharper styling, more kit on the inside and more importantly offers more power with the Pro model.

Styling and interior

While the overall silhouette of the C192 generation remains the same as its predecessor, the car has grown larger in size and has a 70mm longer wheelbase, providing more room on the inside and better stability at higher speeds. It gets sharper LED headlights, a bigger Panamericana grille with larger air intakes and a new bumper with a blacked-out front splitter. In profile, it gets flush-fit door handles and rides on staggered wheels measuring 20-inch up front and 21-inch at the rear. At the rear, there’s a new connected LED tail light and a massive diffuser with real quad exhaust outlets, no faux treatment here.

The GT gets four exterior colours as standard: silver, yellow, grey, blue, and black. But if those aren’t enough for you, you can always turn to the ‘Manufaktur’ customisation concierge which adds vibrant red, bright white, solid grey, and four exclusive ‘Magno’ matte finishes to the lineup. Additionally, four optional packages — Chrome, Carbon, Aerodynamics, and Night — are offered to further personalize the car’s appearance.

The new AMG GT gets  a completely revamped interior, with 11.6-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen taking centre stage. It gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other features include a Burmester surround system, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and dual-zone climate control. In front of the driver, behind the AMG steering wheel that’s complete with haptic feedback buttons and two round dials to control your drive mode and other functions, you’ll find a customisable 12.3-inch digital driver display. The car gets Nappa leather upholstery as standard, but with the Manufaktur option ticked they buyers can choose from interior themes such as all-black, red, grey, or brown, each paired with black accents.

Under the hood

Enough with all the features talk, let’s move to the business end. Under the hood. Powering the AMG GT is a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which makes 577bhp and 800Nm of peak torque, enabling a 0 to 100kmph time of 3.2 seconds and a 315kmph top whack via a 9-speed gearbox. Those are the same power figures as the previous GT 63, but if you want more power, AMG has got you covered with the GT 63 Pro. With the same engine, this model boasts 603bhp and 805Nm, making it slightly quicker and faster. It does 0 to 100kmph in 3.1 seconds and tops out at 317kmph. All-wheel-drive is standard, and there's also a drift mode which sends more power to the rear wheels to enable controlled slides. The car also gest adaptive dampers to tweak the ride as per the driver's liking.

For the extra Rs 65 lakh that you pay for the GT 63 Pro, you also get the AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Night Package II, and AMG Carbon Exterior Package as standard. Not to forget the carbon ceramic brakes with 420mm front discs and 21-inch forged wheels. It also omits the rear seats, for the benefit of weight reduction. Apart from this the GT 63 Pro has additional radiators and a carbon-fibre rear wing which adds 15kg of downforce.

Price and rivals

Priced at ₹3 crore ex-showroom (₹3.65 crore for the GT 63 Pro), the GT 63 takes on rivals like the Maserati GranTurismo, Porsche 911 GTS, and Aston Martin Vantage. Both the Maserati and the Porsche come in at a lower price point but offer less power, while the Aston delivers around 50bhp more—for a premium of nearly ₹50 lakh. In this segment, the GT 63 strikes a compelling balance and is a no brainer if you eat, sleep and breathe all things AMG.
