Ultraviolette Tesseract: An Electric Scooter With Some Serious Gumption

Electric scooters used to be wobbly little things that barely got you to the shops and back before the battery went flat. But times have changed, and Ultraviolette, a Bangalore-based manufacturer, has come up with something that appears to be rather serious – the Tesseract.

And before you ask, no, it doesn’t fold space and time like the Marvel thing. What it does do, however, is deliver some proper performance figures wrapped in what looks like a very modern, sci-fi-inspired design. Prices start at Rs 1,45,000 (ex-showroom), and you can pre-book one for Rs 999. Deliveries commence in early 2026.

Three Variants, Three Battery Options

The Tesseract is available in three flavours, defined by the size of their battery packs.

  • Tesseract 3.5 (base variant) – 3.5kWh battery, peak power of 13.4bhp (10kW), and a claimed range of 162km (IDC cycle).
  • Tesseract 5 (mid variant) – 5kWh battery, peak power of 20bhp (15kW), and a 220km claimed range.
  • Tesseract 6 (top variant) – 6kWh battery, same 20bhp (15kW) motor, but with an impressive 261km claimed range.

The base variant will be available for Rs 1,20,000 for the first 10,000 customers, after which the price increases to Rs 1,30,000. Pricing for the mid and top variants will be announced towards the end of 2025, but expect them to be in the ballpark of Rs 1.7 lakh and Rs 2 lakh, respectively.

Performance and Charging

Now, the bit that actually matters. The Tesseract 6, the top-dog of the lineup, can sprint from 0-60kmph in a claimed 2.9 seconds, which is properly brisk. Top speed? A claimed 125kmph. More importantly, it won’t take all day to charge – a fast charger can juice it up from 0 to 80% in under an hour. That’s rather good.

Technology and Features

It’s electric, so naturally, it comes with enough technology to make an actual spaceship jealous. A 7-inch TFT display is present, with all the usual trinkets – smartphone connectivity, Google Maps navigation, ride analytics, and even something called ‘Violette AI,’ which sounds suitably futuristic.

More intriguing is the inclusion of radar-based safety systems, something that’s more commonly found in cars with ADAS. You get blind spot detection, lane change assist, and collision alerts, which is, frankly, quite impressive for a scooter. It even vibrates the handlebars to alert you – the two-wheeled equivalent of a polite nudge.

Oh, and there are two dashcams – one at the front and one at the back. Because why not?

Practicality? Not Forgotten

Despite all the tech wizardry, Ultraviolette hasn’t forgotten that this is, at the end of the day, a scooter. There’s 34 litres of underseat storage, which is actually useful. You also get two USB charging ports and a wireless charger – perfect for keeping your phone topped up while you pretend to be in a sci-fi film.

The Tesseract rides on 14-inch wheels, shod with 110-section front and 140-section rear tubeless tyres. Stopping duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, which should provide plenty of confidence on India’s, let’s say, ‘dynamic’ roads.

How Does It Stack Up Against Rivals?

In a world now brimming with electric scooters, the Tesseract faces some stiff competition from the likes of the Ola S1 Pro Plus, Simple One, and Ather 450X. However, the numbers suggest it might just have the edge in terms of outright power and range – at least on paper.

And then there’s the battery warranty – 2 lakh kilometres or 8 years, whichever comes first. That’s some serious commitment.

Final Thoughts

Electric scooters aren’t just for popping to the shops anymore. The Ultraviolette Tesseract seems to be proof of that. It’s got performance, range, and enough technology to make your car feel outdated. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how it actually rides, but if the numbers hold up, this could be one of the most exciting electric scooters to hit Indian roads.
