Simple Energy has updated its current Simple One Gen 1.5 model with the launch of the new Simple One Gen 2. While the electric scooter continues with minimal design changes, it receives several significant under-the-skin updates that result in improved power output, an increased riding range, and it also gets more practical features. From performance upgrades to efficiency enhancements, here is everything you need to know.
Design
The Simple One Gen 2 receives minimal design changes as compared to the gen 1.5 but it gets few nips and tucks which are done to improve aero. It gets a slightly cleaner face and a less clutter-y rear-end, new graphics and sleeker, sturdier, mirrors, and a 1-litre storage area on the front apron with a Type-A USB port. Under the skin, it gets a 22 per cent stiffer chassis, reinforced battery crash zones with a 50 per cent better frontal impact and also a revised tyre compound with stiffer wall for a better performance. The scooter does away with portable battery (on the 5kWh variant) and gets a single battery now which has resulted in an 8kg weight saving, plus a bigger 35-litre underseat storage area. It also has a 16mm lower, 780mm, seat height. The Simple One now gets a new single-tone colour option which is called Aero Grey and two new dual tone colour options – Aero X and Asphalt X.
Battery and Performance
The Simple One Gen 2 is available in 3 variants: The range kicks off with the One S which has a 3.7kWh battery that offers a 190km IDC-claimed range. It does 0 to 40kmph in 3 seconds and tops out at 90kmph. Up next is the One 4.5kWh battery which has a 236km IDC-claimed range. This model is actually a little slower from 0 to 40kmph with a 3.3 second time, and it has the same 90kmph top speed. And the range tops out with the big 5kWh battery that has a massive 265km IDC-claimed range. This variant has a claimed 0 to 40kmph time of 2.55 seconds and a 115kmph top speed. Simple Energy has also introduced a lifetime warranty on motor and battery pack at an additional cost of about ₹33,000. The brand will also soon introduce the ‘Ultra’ variant which will pack a 6.5kWh battery; it is supposed to provide an IDC-claimed range of 400km on a single charge, and that is something we can’t wait to get our hands on. While the brand hasn’t confirmed its launch yet, the scooter is already available for buyers to book and if there is enough demand, it will be launched soon.
Feature and Rider aids
The Simple OS has also been updated with the Gen 2 and now gets better system optimisation and clean display layout. Simple Energy has also added 3 new riding modes which are called: Eco X, Air (which replaces dash mode) and Sonic X. The Simple One Gen 2 now gets two cruise control modes: standard which adapts highway rides and metro which adapts for city rides and works from 20 to 80kmph It also gets four re-gen modes and four road traction control modes. It also gets a new super hold which automatically detects slopes and engages the brakes so that the vehicle doesn’t roll back.

With the Simple One Gen 2, the brand has also showcased a few accessories which buyers opt for. They can equip the e-scooter with a couple of aero-optimised panniers (18-litre each), a sleek rear backrest, a windscreen and even a rear tyre hugger!
