Japanese bike manufacturer Honda launched their CBR650R and CB650R in India with hefty price tags of Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 9.20 lakh, respectively. The bikes are powered by the same 649cc inline-four engine that produces 93.7 bhp and 63Nm of torque. Both of these bikes will be exclusive to the Big Wing Honda dealerships.
The CBR650R takes design cues from its elder sibling, the CBR1000RR-R. The updated motorcycles come with a 5-inch TFT display, which brings Bluetooth connectivity via Honda’s RoadSync App. The motorcycles are offered in Grand Prix Red Matt and Gunpowder Black Metallic colours.
Both bikes remain mechanically the same but have different rider triangles. The CBR650R is a more track-focused bike unsuitable for regular commutes, while the CB650R is street-naked and provides a more comfortable riding position suited for long journeys. Being 650cc motorcycles, they are bound to heat up in India’s climate conditions.
We expect both motorcycles to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
The CBR650R will compete with the likes of the Triumph Daytona 660, Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Suzuki GSX-8R. On the other hand, the CB650R will compete with bikes like Kawasaki Z650, Kawasaki Z900 and Suzuki GSX-8S (expected to launch at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025). Deliveries for both the motorcycles will start from February 2025.
Honda has kicked off 2025 on an impressive note. With the NX500 set to reach customers who pre-booked it this month and deliveries of the much-anticipated 650s commencing next month, the brand is clearly focused on delighting enthusiasts and strengthening its foothold in the Indian market.
